TRAUMA THERAPY

_____________________________________

I specialise in working with trauma and the lasting impact it can have.

Traumatic experiences can continue to influence our lives long after the threat has passed. Many people come to therapy knowing they are safe, yet their bodies continue to react as if danger is still present. Trauma may leave you with overwhelming memories, gaps in memory, or no clear memory at all. Your body may continue to respond as though the danger is still present. Anxiety, hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, shame, or a persistent sense of threat are all signs that your nervous system has not yet realised that the threat has passed. These responses are not signs that something is wrong with you. They are adaptations that helped you survive overwhelming experiences. When they persist long after the threat has passed, they can become exhausting and life-limiting, leaving you feeling stuck.

A central part of my work is helping your nervous system recognise that the threat has passed, so that your mind and body no longer need to respond as though danger is still happening.
